A hidden gem, this region is reached in an hour from Taupo to the south, and a growing number of clients have been delighted with the Ruapehu mountain touring options we have offered over the 2018 season.

Made famous as Mt Doom in the Lord of the Rings & Hobbit trilogies, Mt Ngauruhoe offers a stunning back drop for a visit to the "Top of The Bruce" at Whakapapa. Take a wander over to Meads Wall if you dare - a huge drop-off of magnanimous proportions -  not for the faint-hearted however !

We also encourage our guests to take one of our favoured walks on the lower slopes of Ruapehu through some majestic scenery where you can experience incredibly diverse and unique flora and fauna.
